Local knowledge, global expertise
22 May 2017
From May 15 - 16, 2017, the first PKF Project China Meeting took place in the office building of PKF Fasselt Schlage in Duisburg, Germany. The event began with a welcome dinner on May 14 at a typical German brewery house. During the meal, the participants had the chance to get to know each other while enjoying local dishes and beverages.
35 representatives from 9 different countries shared their business expertise, discussed the needs and expectations of Chinese companies and investors in their respective investment country. The importance of intercultural competence and language skills was stressed repeatedly. The key to successful cooperation with Chinese clients lay in communication.
Apart from the language, the tools for communication with Chinese clients differed. Whereas clients in most countries could be reached without difficulty via e-mail, many Chinese clients preferred Wechat.
In order to better understand Chinese clients and the Chinese markets, close cooperation between member firms is important. Many have expressed their interest in the secondment programme for tax and audit professionals with Chinese firms and vice versa.
The Project China Meeting in Duisburg was a successful first step on the path of cooperation between the PKF member firms on the topic of China and even beyond. Many topics have been addressed and many new contacts have been made. The next step will be for the contacts and plans made in Duisburg to be strengthened at the next Project China Meeting in Beijing in September.
