Living our values to drive meaningful change
At PKF, our members strive to make a positive difference in our communities through donating generously to charities and empowering their people to take part in a wide range of charitable activities. Building on the success of last year’s PKF Global volunteer programme, which saw staff from our member firms around the world participate in a two-week humanitarian mission to Zambia, all fundraising from our 2025 global events is being donated to CSR projects in Zambia.
Our friends and colleagues at PKF Zambia, under the leadership of Managing Partner Antony Ranjan, work tirelessly to support a range of CSR initiatives, with the aim of making a sustainable difference in the local community. The team volunteers at Lubasi Children’s Home, an establishment founded by Antony to provide residential care and education for orphans and vulnerable children, at Lushomo Home, which offers a safe space, counselling and education for girls who have been abused, and at Grace Centre, a haven providing skills and careers training for vulnerable girls and young women. PKF Zambia also works closely with Maramba Old People’s Home, supports a biweekly feeding programme for homeless individuals with mental health challenges and runs a farm, providing people with usable skills so that they can reintegrate into society and the workforce.
Donations from our global events to date have been used to instal a solar system at Lushomo Home, giving residents access to clean drinking water 24 hours a day. Further donations will fund the purchase of new beds and mattresses, increasing the capacity of the home so that more girls can be supported.
It was a privilege for PKF Global team members and representatives from a number of our member firms to visit Zambia recently and see first-hand the incredible CSR work undertaken by PKF Zambia. Following our Audit Identity Steering Committee meeting in Livingstone in July, the team stayed at Lubasi Home and participated in many of the CSR projects. They helped prepare and serve a nutritious meal as part of the feeding programme, spent time with the children at the Lubasi and Lushomo Homes, cleaned residents’ rooms at the Maramba Old People’s Home and attended a graduation ceremony at the Grace Centre.

Reflecting on her time in Zambia, PKF O’Connor Davies partner Rekha Nambiar said, ‘Our CSR experiences allowed us to live out our PKF values in a tangible and heartfelt way. The deeper I reflect, the clearer it becomes: excellence in audit and empathy in action are not separate priorities – they are fundamentally intertwined. When we lead with purpose and care, our work becomes not just effective, but meaningful. I am proud to be on this journey with people who live our values – inside and outside the boardroom.’
In August, PKF Global CEO Theo Vermaak and Africa regional coordinator Debbie Dell travelled to Zambia to mark the firm’s 10-year anniversary and enjoyed the opportunity to visit Lubasi Home, Lushomo Home and Maramba Old People’s Home. They were delighted to spend time with the children and young people, meet with the staff who run the homes and deliver a donation of stationery items and safety equipment.
Theo said, ‘What an enriching and inspiring experience! At PKF, we are first and foremost a network of people and I am immensely proud that our members care so passionately about making a positive difference to the lives of others. The CSR projects in Zambia are truly transformative and it’s wonderful to see our members work together with a common vision and purpose, helping our communities thrive. Thank you to Antony and his team for their unwavering commitment to these incredible initiatives.’
Debbie said, ‘The whole experience had such an impact on me. These were real kids who had been through so much, yet now they were in a place of safety and love. Being there was heartwarming, and it made me proud to be part of a network that genuinely cares about people and communities.’
